Characterisation through naming in Javier Marias’ A Heart so White (1992): A corpus stylistic analysis
Abstract
A Heart so White (1992), an internationally acclaimed novel written by Javier Marías has given rise to numerous studies, but none of them has described in detail the pragmatic function of the denominative forms chosen for each one of the characters. The present paper applies the principles of corpus stylistics to carry out a systematic quantitative and qualitative analysis of naming and its function in the novel.
