Verás: a pragmatic-discursive approach

Abstract
L The purpose of this paper is to describe verás from a macrosyntactic and pragma-linguistic perspective. Although this element has been previously categorised as a discourse marker invoking positive and negative politeness, it also operates in informative and modal discourse levels. From a formal point of view, verás may be preceded or followed by the subject pronoun tú, with different values. In syntactic terms, it is undergoing a grammaticalization process, which we describe in this article.Downloads
