Linguistics social splendor and the Symposium of Architecture of 1972 in Castelldefels.
Abstract
Linguistics reached the social splendor in the seventies in the last century. An excellent episode of this period, as paradoxical as little well-known, was the Symposium of Architecture celebrated in 1972 in Castelldefels (Barcelona). The meeting was pioneering in the debate on semiotics and generative grammar. Even without counting on the participation of linguists, the lecturers elaborated documents to debate and published capital works of the architectonic semiotics. The Symposium "Architecture, history and theory of the signs" made contributions to Linguistics. And it constitutes a manifesto of the scientific and social prestige of Linguistics as a paradigm of sciences.Downloads
