Cultural and Linguistic Barriers in the Healthcare System: towards a Training Proposal on Intercultural Competence
Abstract
This study aims to provide a multidisciplinary perspective on interculturally competent healthcare from the perspective of healthcare professionals. By exploring the diverse experiences and concerns of these professionals, we will assess the level of intercultural competence demonstrated during interactions with migrant populations in hospital settings.
The main objective is to define the concept of intercultural competence in healthcare and conduct a field study by distributing questionnaires to medical staff, including doctors and nurses. The study will then identify, analyze, and classify their training needs related to intercultural competence in order to design and deliver a targeted training course to enhance their intercultural skills.
