Eco-inclusion and creativity: artistic strategies for Functional Diversity
Abstract
The article examines the inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome in performance art from an ecological and social perspective. The artistic proposal Por qué Pompa se encontró con Espina, awarded by the Carmen Thyssen Museum in Málaga, introduces the concept of eco-inclusion, emphasizing the active participation of vulnerable groups in artistic creation. Based on Artistic Teaching Methodologies (MAE) and Arts-Based Research (IBA), the study employs strategies that foster self-exploration and creativity, adapting the process to individual capabilities. During the workshop, participants work with materials such as soap bubbles and glass spheres, exploring fragility and resilience through multisensory experimentation. The aesthetics of estrangement stimulate divergent thinking, allowing participants to challenge stereotypes and strengthen their identity, promoting art as a tool for social transformation and collective well-being.
