Analysis of the representation of the indigenous in the work of the Tlacolulokos collective
Abstract
This writing makes a reading of the work of the artistic collective Tlacolulokos from a critical approach to the concept of identity. Based on the pictorial series “For the Pride of Your People, Along the Path of the Old and Memory of the Forgotten”, we propose that non-mestizo groups build, adopt, and problematize their distinctive traits and characteristics through processes open to transformation, in constant dialogue with inherited practices and knowledge, and with the future.
