The Memory of the Hands. Making a Documentary of History of Education
Abstract
This work presents a retrospective of the process that an interdisciplinary team followed during four years and which results came with the 2015 feature documentary titled The Memory of the Hands: Echoes of C. Freinet’s pedagogic legacy in Murcia. The approach that we would like to show has two complementary perspectives: the one that the history of education offers as a field of study and the other, which shows the communication focus as a proposal for the divulgation of research results.
The perspective from the history of education’s point of view records and justifies the process of gathering documentary sources, the hardships it entails and the decision making on this matter. We value the determining facts of the subject and the context of the sources used.
The communicative focus shows the process seen from a documentary point of view. It manifests the decisions made and the resources that were used for the target audience of the work. The film production process entailed an innovative way of work in terms of documentary production, as it was conceived as the results of a PhD research: Fictions constructors of reality: the documentary animation cinema (Burgos, 2015).
