Some Observations about the Laughter in the Poetical Work of Thomas Brasch
Abstract
The poetical work of Thomas Brasch is being analysed in a study that focuses on the use of laughter. Laughter in the work of Brasch has a double utopian aspect: In the private-interpersonal sector it can serve to obtain a distance to problematical situations, in the public-social sector it functions as a political instrument ridiculing the ones that have political power. Also it will be dealt with dystopian variants of laughter, in which the one laughed at laughs back cynically and/ or the laughter at one’s self fails.
