The Influence of the Concepts "Ausländer/extranjero" on German and Spanish Lexicography
Abstract
This paper deals with aspects of lexicography and semantics. The concepts Ausländer and der Andere are analyzed from a semantic point of view in German and Spanish. This analysis will further sufficient data to explain how these concepts have influenced German and Spanish lexicography and the role they play for these disciplines with regard to their current comprehension. It will be shown that German dictionaries of foreign words have always been more important and numerous than Spanish dictionaries of foreign words. It is furthermore an important aim of this contribution to offer a contrastive perspective between such German and Spanish dictionaries.
