The influence of the plastic arts on The Great Tamer (2017) de Dimitris Papaioannou
Abstract
This article aims to be a first approach to the relations of plastic art within the dance-theatrical production of the Greek artist Dimitris Papaioannou. From his academic studies, within the visual arts (such as painting) and his later approach to dance (thanks to his studies both in Greece and in the United States), the artistic stages experienced by Papaioannou are listed, each one in the sign of a particular artistic-visual discipline and current. Therefore, starting from the definition of what is understood as tableau vivant and theater of the image, this paper intends to point out these influences in the specific case of the work The Great Tamer, part of the Fight’s Trilogy (which also includes Primal Matter and Still Life).
