New socializations, old questions? Adolescence and gender in the audiovisual age
Abstract
Family and School, with their historical changes, have carried the weight of the work of the socialization and cultural transmission of the new generations. The recent arrival of the mass media and technological advances has altered the old schemes of this human process. There has emerged a generation of adolescents capable of producing and consuming their own audiovisual contents, in addition to those proposed by the media industries. However, it is questionable whether all these changes, substantials in many respects, have produced a real change in the traditional representations of gender roles.Downloads
