The Favorite Screens of Young Basques. The Use of Digital Devices and Platforms by High School Students
Abstract
The aim of this work is to measure the use by Basque teenagers (between 12 and 16 years old) of devices, platforms and digital services for consumption, prescription, creation and publication of audiovisual content. In order to fulfill this purpose, surveys have been carried out to 2,426 Secondary students from Gipuzkoa. The results speak of digital and connected young people, who handle all the technological devices of the market: they relax watching smart TV and listening to music on YouTube, they study with their computers, and they create their own contents with their mobile phones. The results do not speak, however, of young prosumers, since they use technologies much more to consume and learn than to create, participate or empower themselves
