Twitter and the press: two narratives on the ‘law Wert’
Abstract
This work aims at showing the public debate generated on Twitter and in the press about a political issue: the Spanish educational reform LOMCE. Through the combination of quantitative and qualitative methodological techniques, this research analyzes comparatively the symbolic frames on this issue, popularly known as ‘Wert law’, on this social network and in two major national newspapers: El País y El Mundo. Our main goal is to contribute to the reflection on the influence that new spaces for citizen participation have on public debate, due to their ability to enrich and open the media discussion introducing new voices from civil society.Downloads
