The Spanish Academy Comes Out of the Closet
Abstract
Spanish universities have been a very opossed university system to LGBTIQ + studies. So many people who have developed great research work have had to do it from outside the Spanish academy. The lack of recognition of this field of study, both for its research and its teaching, has produced initiatives many times outside the university environment. However, many people and research groups have not stopped developing a great work within universities. The text is the one presented as Coordinator of the University Master’s Degree in LGBTIQ + Studies in the Solemn Act of Official Inauguration in the historic San Bernardo Paraninfo of the Complutense University of Madrid on September 18, 2019.
