Queer Themes in Almodóvar's Films and Their Dialogue with LGBTIQ+ Cinema in China: A Comparative Study of The Law of Desire and Hold You Tight
Abstract
This article conducts a comparative analysis of the representation of queer themes in The Law of Desire by Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar and Hold You Tight by Chinese director Stanley Kwan. Through text analysis, narrative structure, and character development to deeply understand how queer themes are expressed in the films of Almodóvar and Kwan and their significance and impact in different cultural contexts, providing new insights and in-depth analysis for gender diversity themes in cross-border cultural exchange.
