Abstract

This article analyzes the different aspects of the monastery church of St. Martin of Frómista, such as its changes along the time or the restoration of Manuel Aníbal Álvarez in the last years of nineteenth century. This restoration was due to the demolition of the church, which was already recognized as National Monument. But, because of this intervention, St. Martin is one of the most interesting and leading monuments of the Spanish Romanesque, as well as the centre of many debates relating to chronological approach.
