Clergymen at the Royal Service in the Urban Conflicts

the Cases of Cuenca and Córdoba in the Half 15th Century

Abstract

Over the last centuries of the Middle Ages various struggles has developed into the Crown of Castile, specifically in some urban contexts. They faced lineages of the nobility, and even ecclesiastical, and local governements, in order to control de local government. Sometimes the monarchy, using different characters in these conflicts defended their own interests. In this paper we analyze two specific cases: Cordoba and Cuenca in the fifteenth century.
