La Orquesta Filarmónica de Madrid y su labor de difusión de la música de Debussy y Ravel en España en la primera mitad del siglo XX
Abstract
The Orquesta Filarmónica de Madrid (OFM), founded 1915, was conducted by Bartolomé Pérez Casas for thirty years, until 1945. The orchestra’s main objective was to present a repertory of works by contemporary foreign and Spanish composers. This idea was implanted as a result of the tireless efforts and motivation of its programmer and conductor Pérez Casas, who presented a large number of works that were hitherto unknown. This study of the first thirty years of the OFM’s intense and varied musical activity, which included close to 900 concerts, will be used to analyse one of the most important aspects of its work: the Orchestra’s contribution to the dissemination of avant-garde French music in Spain in the form of the works of Debussy and Ravel.
