Abstract

This paper investigates the organization of the mental lexicon of six-year-old schoolchildren. Based on a corpus of lexical availavility, which gathers the repertoire of 106 girls and boys from both sides of the Atlantic (Spain and Chile), it is analyzed both the units activated in the center of interest Body parts, and the relationships established between them through the visualization of associative networks. Thus, based on the representation provided by the Dispografo program, it is interesting to describe the cognitive organization of the available lexical materials by determining which types of relationships are the most prolific among the units that make up the available repertoire, as well as to discover similarities or differences among the subgroups of schoolchildren (mechanisms of activation of the available lexicon, performance, and progression).
