An approach to orality in comics: The case of Idiotizadas. Un cuento de Empoderhadas and its translation into Portuguese
Abstract
The comic is characterised by a prefabricated oral discourse that imitates spontaneous conversations. In order to achieve this objective, features and resources characteristic, in this specific case, of communicative immediacy are included with the aim of making the characters’ dialogues natural and believable. This article studies the marks of orality present in Idiotizadas. Un cuento de empoderhadas and how these marks have been translated into Portuguese. The comparison of the two texts has also served to observe the similarities and differences between Spanish and Portuguese in reflecting the prefabricated orality and the way in which the problems derived from translation have been solved.
