Abstract

The analysis of legal elements in literary texts, i.e. names of institutions, symbology and legal terminology, has been successfully developed in Law and Literature Studies. However, with a few exceptions, legal phraseology has not been taken into consideration in the Spanish-speaking world. For this reason we decided to compile a diachronic corpus of Spanish literary texts (CORLITES) in order to extract legal phraseology and study its syntactic, semantic and pragmatic evolution. To begin with, this paper will present a review of the existing studies of literature and law and an overview of historical Spanish phraseology. After the description of the corpus we present the analysis of a phraseological unit extracted from this corpus in order to make a proposal of the phraseographic information that should be included in a tool for consulting the evolution of terminological units and legal phraseological units.
