Linguistic mitigation in Spanish digital reviews of hotels and restaurants
Abstract
In this paper we present the results of a quantitative-qualitative analysis of linguistic mitigation in a corpus of reviews about Spanish hotels and restaurants published on the main web pages dedicated to managing reservations of this type of service. The study is based on the assumptions of pragmatics and discourse analysis and aims at detecting different types of mitigation, as well as their relationship with politeness and facework strategies carried out by customers and businesspersons.Downloads
