El inmigrante mediático. Representaciones en prensa española
Abstract
This article focuses on the analysis of headlines about immigration in the Spanish press (El Mundo and El País, July 2006). Based on the principles of critical discourse analysis and employing a methodology for analysis and taxonomy of functional linguistic the representation of immigrants is analyzed as social actors in the Spanish territory. In this regard, both lexical mechanisms selection and categorizations such as types of roles and verbal processes are taken into account. The corpus analysis shows that sociodiscursive representation of immigration in the Spanish press is influenced by mechanisms of emphasis or mitigation and by the relationship with Spain as a deictic centre.Downloads
