Immersion, Interface and Liminary Objects
Abstract
The different perspectives used to investigate digital environments sometimes lead to the establishment of metaphorical terminologies that are not properly defined, and if they are, they tend to become diffuse, making it difficult to understand some of its phenomena. This is the case of the concept of “immersion”, an identifiable state of consciousness which is especially relevant in the case of digital environments due to the active quality of the interaction. This text tries to define and limit the concept in its relation with a certain type of semiotic systems: the Virtual Worlds mediated by interfaces.Downloads
