Our journalism and narrative: displacement and questions
Abstract
The paper argues in favor of seeing journalism as a peculiar form of narrative. It discusses the general rejection of the narrative character of certain journalistic productions, by supposing it as incompatible with journalism’s commitment to the truth of the facts. But the news is part of an ancient cultural practice, the art of storytelling. The news are stories, but not “fictions”. Seeing the narrative dimension of journalism means seeing it as a form of knowledge that interprets and rearranges the world in a narrative way to return it to the reading and consumption of its partners.Downloads
