Cathartic irruption. Motherhood in Argentina's creative industries (2007-2018)
Abstract
During the 20th century, Argentine cultural industries configured representations of motherhood around an idyllic model in which mothers spent their maternal experience as pure joy, attentive and obedient to the prescriptions of the cultural environment. This dominant archetype began to be discussed in emerging content in the 21st century, in the context of a situation permeated by the issues and demands of the women's, feminist and gender diversity movements. This article observes a set of products of the Argentine mass culture that strained the traditional and hegemonic model of motherhood in order to identify the invariant features that constitute them and reflect on the scope of their representations considering the epochal climate in which they were produced.
