Abstract

This article analyzes how the news about of transgender and transsexual people is influenced by economic, cultural and representative dimensions that, at the same time, are related to practices in a spot of the hierarchy of the social space. In that sense, we depart from the idea that transsexual and transgender people cannot be referred as homogenous groups without considering many variables, such as race and social status or journalistic approach.
