Incómodas investiduras de lo clásico. La Moda (Argentina, siglo XIX)
Abstract
In the middle of the 19th century a weekly newspaper entitled La Moda. Gacetín semanal de Música, de Poesía, de Literatura, de Costumbres was published in Buenos aires. Within it important intellectuals of that time are concentrated, whose thinking turned out to be decisive for the political organization of Juan Bautista alberdi, Juan María Gutiérrez, Carlos tejedor and Vicente Fidel López, amongst others. Under a deliberate layer of frivolity, apparently only focusing on dresses and fabrics, political, philosophical, literary and moral matters are raised, with a clear social purpose: to educate its readers and change their habits. the classical tradition represents a recurrent and controversial element in this book. in our work, we intend precisely to analyze the references to the classic in general and the latin in particular and to establish in what way it is articulated through the aesthetic and political program that characterizes the intellectual group – the «37 Generation» – to which its collaborators belong to.Downloads
