La evolución semasiológica de la raíz indoeuropea *pet- ('volar') y su rica polisemia en la lengua latina.
Abstract
This paper presents an interpretation of the primitive semantic content of the Latin verb petere, completely unrelated to the meaning of its Indoeuropean root (*pet-: ‘to fly’). The objective of this analysis is to understand the possible causes of the diversification of the meanings of this lexeme. In order to do this, I propose the semantic evolution of this Indoeuropean root into the Latin language in terms of the structural metaphor AIMING FOR A GOAL IS FLYING.Downloads
