The locus a nomine and its function in Latin literature: further considerations about the topos concept
Abstract
Continuing with our proposal in previous contributions (2000, 2006) to reformulate the concept of literary topos, we now deal with the so-called locus a nomine. After referring it to its Aristotelian definition and briefly recalling its forensic application and some of its main Latin literary manifestations, we analyze the main characteristics of its habitual behavior as a topic (nomen omen, res ex nomine) and as an anti-topic.
