The Poem "De Iulio aucupe" by Juan de Verzosa
Abstract
We present here a Latin poem written by the Spanish humanist Juan de Verzosa. The poem was sent by the author in 1555 to his friend Jerónimo Zurita and the original manuscript is kept in the Library of the Real Academia de la Historia of Madrid (Ms.9/112, fols.535-536). Apparently the poem is about another friend who is fond of hunting birds. But if we compare the text with some passages of the Epistles by Verzosa we see the real intention of the author and even the identity of that ‘hunter’ called Iulius.Downloads
