Horace’s "Epistula ad Pisones": its standardization as "ars poetica" up to the Renaissance
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to study the tradition of Horace’s Epistula ad Pisones and her standardization as ars poetica from theMiddleAges to the Renaissance.We examine Horace’s influence upon the medieval artes poetriae and the treatrises on poetry of the Renaissance, focusing especially on its main commentators: Ascensius, Parrhasius, Gauricus, Vida, Robortello, Grifoli, Muret, Jason de Nores, Luisini, Sanctius, Krag, Scaliger, Pinciano, Cascales, Ceruti, Pigna and Falcó.Downloads
