Between the transience and the eternity of the present. The question of time from Joaquín Xirau`s philosophy
Abstract
This paper aims at offering a reconstruction of the theses on time derived from the philosophy of the Catalan intellectual Joaquín Xirau. The common thread of such interpretation revolves around sheding ligh into how to address the aporias of time, as diagnosed by Paul Ricoeur, by means of Joaquin Xirau`s theocentric metaphysic based on the ordo amoris. With a view of framing Joaquin Xirau`s insights into this conceptual framework it will be delved further into his critique of positivist ontology for neutralizing the experience of temporality. By so doing, it will be possible to delve further into the extent to which the linking of the present to the eternity which derived from God`s creative act, according to Joaquin Xirau`s metaphysics, points to the resolution of the aporias of time.
