Female Scientists Against Coronavirus on Wikipedia
Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic and the imposition of containment measures to control its spread have had a strong impact on the career paths of women scientists and on their visibility in the media. Despite the fact that the pandemic has led to the appearance of people from the scientific world in the media, most of the sources consulted have been men, as evidenced by various studies. In this article, we intend to analyze if within the Wikipedia, which during the pandemic has been fighting disinformation about the coronavirus, women have been and continue to be visible who have been leading some of the most relevant research to combat it. To this end, the presence in the Wikipedia of the biographies of scientists and engineers related to coronavirus research and who have played an important role in the media has been analyzed.
