El jardín central del Palacio de Fernán-Núñez
Abstract
This article explains the evolution of Fernán-Núñez palace's central garden. This building is one of the more representative examples of romantic architecture in Madrid. The palace has been changed many times since the late XVIII century to the present. We define five periods of evolution and five «gardens» which were born and underwent a transformation as an answer to the diferent activities that took place at this space and to keep its function as an inside communication center for the palace. The garden fullfills, as well, the representative or emblematic functions that appear due to the political and diplomatic activities of the different owners.Antonio and Martín López Aguado, Pedro Arnal, Juan Francisco Rodrigo and the «Cabinet Ch. Revéron» are responsible for the different developments of this area. All these projects worked with architectonic and escultoric elements and with a floral repertory that we try to document and interrelate to discover the presence of all these historical gardens in the actual configuration of the Fernán-Núñez palace's central courtyard.Downloads
