Chemical etching without acids: From eau-forte to nowadays corrosive salts
Abstract
After a brief review of the main intaglio and printing advancements with a “friendlier” aim, this article describes and analyzes current ecological mordant and their connection with classic XVII-XVIII century saline mordant. We will try to demonstrate that the ecological contemporary mordant is the result of reformulations of the first classic, such as the ones described by Abraham Bosse or Manuel de Rueda.Downloads
