Abstract
Psychokrimi is a sub-genre of the crime novel, and its origins date back to the mid 20th century. This shows the action from the point of view of the criminals, paying special attention to their motivation and to their way of committing the crime. This is a different perspective from the traditional one, because the reader is a direct witness of the criminal activities and also of the attempts of the murderer to escape justice. The present study aims to define those elements in Unterm Birnbaum, written at the end of the 19th century, which allow us to consider this Novelle as a precursor of this type of writing.Downloads
