Drei Wege zum See – paths to the Ego: Ingeborg Bachmann’s narrative and Michael Haneke’s film adaption
Abstract
Parting from Ingeborg Bachmann's story Three Paths to the Lake, as in all film adaptations, the question of how the model was implemented visually comes up. This requires apart from a comparison of narrative and film also and especially an analysis of cinematic storytelling, options that are available to the film and remain inaccessible to a narrative compose an own piece. In this way, not only pictures tell the story, but the combination of camera, sound and cuts follow their own dynamics. With the help of two sequences the visual depictions of subjective experiences of the story shall be outlined in order to present the central theme of the story and the film in a way that the audience shares the protagonist’s subjective perception and experiences.Downloads
