Les Kurbas: death and glory were close

Abstract

The article analyzes the creative principles of the innovative Ukrainian director of the twentieth century Les Kurbas, which were reflected in the theatrical practice of his students and followers and were transformed into various theatrical experiences of our time. Numerous examples show compelling and controversial interpretations of Kurbas’ method of figurative transformation, which is relevant in the search for innovations in theatrical language and direction.
