Abstract
Descartes’ rejection to attribute soul to animals, and considering them pure machines, generated an aggravated opposition among his contemporaries. In spite of Descartes’ mechanical explication, He was not effective explaining life itself. Descartes’ position assumed the opening of the study of the modern Physiology and Biology by separating the concepts of soul and life, which are very tight or united in the Scholastic school of thought.Downloads
