Protocols of the Community of Madrid against gender violence

Abstract

Introduction. In the Community of Madrid there were 26,166 complaints of gender violence in 2019. The Regional Government has the Strategy against Gender Violence (2016-2021) to fight against gender violence. Objective. One of the objectives of this strategy is to evaluate the action protocols. Methodology. The research consisted of the compilation and review of all existing protocols and a qualitative study through 34 interviews with 59 people, to learn about the implementation, operation and effectiveness of the protocols. Results. In the region, professionals use various protocols (state and regional). There is an abundance of protocols and a great variety of types of violence against women. In addition, there are various promoting bodies. In the opinion of the professionals interviewed, no more protocols are needed, but they must be improved. The Coordination Protocol of the Municipal Points of the Regional Gender Violence Observatory (PMORVG), popularly known as the DGM Protocol, should be improved
