Narratives and resistance against homo-lesbo-trans-hating violence at the National University of Córdoba, Argentina
Abstract
: Introduction. This paper focuses on the biographical narratives of non-heterosexual students and graduates of the National University of Córdoba (UNC), Argentina, within the framework of an international research project of the "Research Network on Gender Differences in Ibero-American Higher Education" (University of Alicante, Spain). Objectives. The present article aims to analyse biographical trajectories and experiences in a sex-political key, highlighting the problem of gender violence in general, and homo-lesbian-trans-bi-hating violence in particular in the field of Higher Education. Methodology. From a qualitative methodology, the life stories of the interviewees belonging to two academic units of the UNC are analysed from the contributions of the biographical method. In particular, the considerations that Ernesto Meccia elaborates for the empirical approach to life stories are taken up, taking into account both the contents of the discourse and its modes of articulation. Results. Towards the end, we choose to highlight some particular considerations of what the analysis yields, indicating three substantive aspects that emerge in the interpretation of such narratives in the framework of a broader social context. In addition, we indicate a series of challenges faced by universities in the context of disputes over the transformation of sexual policies to contribute to the eradication of homo-lesbian-trans-trans-bi/hating violence.
