Call me King Bollero. The Drag King workshops from lesbian and queer Spanish activist voices
Abstract
The Drag King workshops are revolutionary acts of Queer feminist lesbianism. Since
their emergence in the eighties, they have been associated with practices of resistance, creation and
dissemination of lesbian knowledge articulated around gender. The present article contributes to the
collective memory a possible design of Drag King workshop, and its political potential, from the view
that Queer feminist lesbians have of them. The research for the design of the workshop was carried
out using a qualitative methodology. Six individual interviews were conducted with experiences in
the drag workshops from their positions as workshop or facilitators, participants and / or assistants.
The analysis of the personal testimonies of the protagonists allowed structuring a possible Drag King
workshop model specifying objectives, contents, methodology and evaluation. The proposal designed,
based on the research proposed, aims to contribute to the registration and articulation of discourses and
knowledge about lesbian and queer practices in the Spanish state
