Abstract

This article presents the importance which philosophy, feminist theory and women's movements have had in the Spanish State in such a way that the transition to and consolidation of democracy has developed while integrating women into the public sphere. Three distinct moments are apparent: the diagnosis which established an order of priorities, debates concerning the ways in which women participate in politics, and the basis which led to joint democracy. Last of all the alternatives posed are taken into consideration from the feminist point of view regarding some of the great problems facing the world of today: those referring to ecology and multiculturalism.
