La incorporación del cine documental al proyecto de NO-DO
Abstract
The documentary films production of NO-DO -made between 1943 and 1981- has been very much unknown until now. There are hundreds of documentary films which are very important sources of knowledge about the history of the political culture developed in Spain during the regime of Franco and about his film propaganda. The exhibitors had the obligation of showing the Noticiario NO-DO but they did not have the obligation of showing its documentary films. On the other hand, NO-DO had not the monopoly of the documentary films production. The reason for these important differences was the significant private production of short documentary films. This production emerged after the Ministerial Order of 10.XII.1941, that made it obligatory for Spanish short films to be shown. The variety of NO-DO productions demands a previous work of conceptualizing the different aspects of a documentary film. Consequently, the films of "Revista Cinematográfica Imágenes" and the "Ediciones Especiales" cannot exactly be said to be documentary films.Downloads
