Fiction Transmedia Storytelling: A Study on Preferences among Youngsters

Keywords: Transmedia Storytelling, Media Consumption, Fiction, Youth, Audiences

Abstract

The study of transmedia storytelling has focused the attention of Ibero-American academia in recent years, with investigations that analyze the stories being frequent, but those that question audiences are still unusual. Thus, this work presents the results of a survey of 230 university students in order to know which fiction titles dominate their transmedia consumption. After counting their responses to an open question, 50 cases were identified with at least 10 mentions among the respondents’ preferences. The findings indicate that this consumption is characterized by different attributes: mainstream, global, traditional and conservative in gender issues.
