Study of the political discourse on the information society in Extremadura: a comparative analysis of former presidents Rodríguez Ibarra and Monago
Abstract
This paper analyzes the political discourse in Extremadura between 1995 and 2015. Specifically, the research focuses on the study of the proposal on the Information Society of President Juan Carlos Ibarra in 1996 and his successor at the head of the community - José Antonio Monago-. Nineteen speeches are examined, with the aim of identifying the coincidences and differences between the two, despite the fact that they belonged to different parties. A quantitative and qualitative methodology is applied following the categories Participation; Communication; Knowledge; Identity and Development. It can be affirmed that, despite ideological differences, both politicians coincide in maintaining a capitalist vision of the project, although in Ibarra's case, participation is more predominant.
