Commentary. Augusto C. Sandino, a Decolonial Geopolitics
Abstract
The Nicaraguan Augusto C. Sandino is recognized for leading the fierce resistance against one of the many interventions of the United States to Nicaragua in the 20th century. He managed to defeat, with an enormous military disadvantage, the US imperialism. This feat had repercussions worldwide, during its time and until today. However, Sandino also has another side, as significant as the political-military one. We refer to his facet as a thinker, a reflective subject that weaves together a documentary corpus that synthesizes his own thought that revolves around transcendental themes for his movement and time, for contemporaneity, his country, his region and also for the entire continent and beyond its orbit. His thought argues, deliberates and reflects on: Revolution, Nation, Sovereignty and Geopolitics, from an alternative and decolonial perspective. A geo-politics for liberation in opposition to Western geopolitics that is thought for war.
