Mi padre y yo: masculinity, sexuality and reading
Abstract
This research sets out to shed light on the relationship between reading, gender identity and sexual identity through J.R. Ackerley's 1968 work Mi padre y yo. Starting from the premise that the reading exercise, just as is writing, is a performative act, we dive into the (re)construction of the identity of the biographer, who, through a courageous journey of recovering his father's memory, is shaping and understanding the story that shaped his life.
