From painting to poetry or from space to time: écfrasis
Abstract
In this work, écfrasis are identified and studied as works of art, the aesthetic experience being the clue for their origin and their reading. We introduce ourselves in the broad context of écfrasis, trying to find out when it is appropriate to use the term, limiting it to texts that become independent of the original visual work and exploring art criticism and its possible consideration as écfrasis. Finally, we will focus the study on the way the reader should read an écfrasis, and we will stand for the aesthetic experimentation of art as a way of understanding these unique texts, defending the aesthetic emotion as producer of knowledge.
